For our third concert this season the STS presents itself in a whole new way; as a concert band. We are also proud to welcome the HMCS Star band as we celebrate the great marches, suites and pops music ever written. Holst, Alfred, Sousa and many more will all be showcased and the evening will end with a mass band finale like no other.

Since the beginning of time sound has always had a huge effect on people and people’s emotions have had a huge a huge effect on the sound that they create. In this concert join Maestro Haighway and the STS as they discuss the composer’s effect on music and its effect on all of us. With examples from Stravinsky, Holst, Williams and many more this is a night full of great music and intriguing discussions. Don’t miss this chance.
For the first time the STS is doing a Matinee performance of this concert geared towards families with kids 12 and under. Don’t miss this chance to try the instruments, sit in the orchestra, conduct the orchestra and experience live music like never before.

The last concert of our 4th season is sure to thrill everyone as we perform some monumental works that have shaped the music world on all levels. Hans Zimmer’s Themes from Gladiator introduce the programme in style, then local soloist Tim White shines in Hummel’s magnificent Trumpet Concerto, the perfect precursor to Franck’s Symphony in D minor, one of the Romantic Era’s most performed and powerful works.
